History

In 1951 Jack Pettigrew opened a wholesale gift showroom in the Merchandise Mart located in downtown Dallas across from today’s City Hall Plaza. For the next thirty years, Mr. Pettigrew built his gift business into one of the leading home furnishings importers/wholesalers in the Southwest United States. In 1975, John Orr became President and led the growth of Pettigrew Associates and indeed the Dallas design industry.

World Trade CenterPettigrew was one of the pioneers in the development of the Dallas Trade Mart. Along with Dallas land developer Trammell Crow and other industry leaders, John Orr saw his vision for Dallas as a world destination for buyers become a reality with the construction of the Dallas Design District and the World Trade Center.

Dallas Decorative CenterToday Pettigrew remains one of the original tenants in the World Trade Center and maintains a showroom in Decorative Center Dallas in Dallas’ Design District. These are trade only showrooms selling on a wholesale basis to qualified interior designers, decorators, homebuilders and architects. Pettigrew operates a 75,000 square foot warehouse in proximity to the Dallas Market Center as well as a retail closeout showroom.
