For the past 60 years Pettigrew Associates, Inc. has served the design community by importing fine furniture, custom lighting and decorative accessories from around the world.  Our collection has been selected from the most exclusive markets of Europe and Asia.

The classic Italian design of Pettigrew’s furniture and seating stems from the simple rooms of Tuscany and the grand villas of the Veneto, all hand crafted to Pettigrew’s specifications. Our chandeliers are hand dressed on Italian frames with the finest prisms, then tested to meet U.S. building codes.  Pettigrew's lighting department is turn key from design to full service installation and cleaning.

Pettigrew's PAI Fabrics division stocks thousands of fabrics and wallcoverings.  In Pettigrew’s Custom Shop we are able to take your furniture designs from paper to reality.  Our cabinet makers and master wood carvers are experienced in all styles and woods, while Pettigrew’s finishers and upholsterers apply Old World touches to any piece.

SMU's Meadows Museum Welcomes Pettigrew

On June 24th a group of associates from Pettigrew toured the Meadows Museum and the groundbreaking exhibition Royal Splendor in the Enlightenment:  Charles IV of Spain, Patron and Collector.  Many thanks to SMU and the Meadows Museum for their warm welcome.

Ms. Tamytha Smith
Education Coordinator, Meadows Museum

Dear Tamytha,

'A quick note to say thank you for the opportunity the Meadows Museum has provided Pettigrew Associates, Inc.

Last night a group of Pettigrew associates toured Royal Splendor in the Enlightenment , and for each of them this was their first visit to the Meadows Museum.  Pettigrew is a leader in the Dallas design community, and for sixty years has brought the finest furniture, lighting and decorative accessories to the wholesale market.  Our associates form a team of designers, artists, craftsmen and technicians who create exquisite hand-crafted goods.

After last night's tour, they now have an historical context for their work today....the quality and artistry they observed brings relevance to what we sell.  Our associates gained a broader sense of pride in their Hispanic heritage, as their appreciation of the decorative arts was enhanced.  Docent Merry Schenck breathed life into the collection and brought a sense of humor to an otherwise reserved venue...she's simply a joy.

Again, all of us at Pettigrew appreciate the Meadows Museum's commitment to education by bringing wonderful Spanish art to Dallas.

Best regards,

Jon Beasley
Pettigrew Associates, Inc.

 Tamytha's reply...

Dear Mr. Beasley,
Thank you so much for taking time to write us about your experience here at the Meadows Museum.  I am thrilled that your group was able to enjoy the exhibition while also taking away something that will enrich their work.  I am going to copy Merry on this email, as I am sure she will be pleased that you had such a rewarding visit.

Regards,

Tamytha Smith

Thanks to Jose Bravo, Justino Camargo, Micaela Hernandez & her family and Maxine & Tony Vidal for giving their time to join the tour.  Pettigrew associates are real treasures!

Spring Thing Design Event Returns to Decorative Center Dallas

On May 19th and 20th. Pettigrew Associates, Inc. hosted a very important two hour event during Spring Thing 2010.  This time each year Pettigrew and Decorative Center Dallas bring the design community together for a Spring Thing.

Design for Multigenerational Lifestyles examined the four generations and how designers will design for diverse generational demographics.  How will designers marry the needs of Traditionals and Gen-Yers with the Baby Boomers and Gen-Xers sandwiched in between? These questions and more were answered in this look at the generations in the home and their specific needs.  On May 20th from 1:30 to 3:30 Pettigrew's guest speaker Linda Elliot Smith, FASID discussed the growing trend of multi-generations in the home.

Designers, architects and students lingered afterwards in Pettigrew's 20,000 square foot showroom while enjoying a glass of wine and experienced the latest in our collection.

Spring Thing is your chance to fulfill CEPH or CEU course requirements in the surroundings of the Southwest's finest decorative center.  Now Pettigrew is planning Celebration of Design 2010 in October...another opportunity for continuing education.  Seating is limited for all courses, so register online today or contact Lisa Oldham at fullsleeve@gmail.com.

We Pause to Remember John Orr

The phone has been ringing all week with calls from across the country and around the world to let us know that Pettigrew's clients, vendors and friends are remembering John Orr who died March 11, 2009.  As the shock subsided a year ago, we got busy doing what John would have wanted us to do...carry on his work at Pettigrew serving the design community.

During the past year Pettigrew has faced some real challenges with a tough Dallas economy and changes in the wholesale furniture and lighting industry at large.  But with the creative minds of Pettigrew's team of designers and sales staff combined with the collective talents of our artists and craftsmen, our clients have remained loyal to the selection and quality, which John Orr and Jack Pettigrew built over the past 60 years.

So today we pause to remember John.  Our tears have been replaced with fond laughter of his cock-eyed view of the world...his flair for the dramatic...and his uncanny ability to spot the perfect piece hidden in the corner of a dusty workshop in a far-off land.  He taught us well with his eye for quality...his love of all things beautiful...and his obsession with making Pettigrew's customers glad they visited our showrooms.

Thank you all for your warm thoughts and constant support during the past year.  You are the reason Pettigrew thrives today!
